The David James O'Donoghue Archive at Belfast Central Library consists of his correspondence with J.S. Crone and a number of manuscripts of his writings. O'Donoghue (1866-1917) was a scholar and editor. He was self taught and in the course of his career was a bookseller in Dublin and later a librarian to University College, Dublin. His work "The poets of Ireland: A biographical dictionary" is well respected . He also wrote the first biography of William Carleton.
