Meath County Council Library Service operates an open to all policy which means that anyone who lives, works or visits the County is welcome to make use of the library facilities.
The main Library and headquarters for Meath County Library is at Railway Street, Navan, Co. Meath. There are eleven other libraries located throughout the county and these offer a wide range of services.
There are approximately 300,000 books and audio visual materials available to adults and children for recreation, information and study.
The local history department is currently housed at the Library Headquarters in Navan. The Department holds a large collection of items including:

- Schools Folklore Collection from 1937

- A collection of Books and Poetry from Local Authors past and present.
- Books and pamphlets produced by Local History Societies

The collection is available in varying formats from printed material, to microfilm or microfiche Material.
