Nodstown National School records from 1841 - 1987
A collection of national school records for Nodstown National School from 1841 -1987. The Board of Education was set up in 1831 to create a nationwide government-assisted education system which was responsible for the establishment of national schools. The Nodstown boys school was established in 1839, registered with the board in 1840 and the girls school was established in 1839, registered in 1842. The school was built on a site leased from John Lalor, opposite Boherlahan R.C. church. It was 29’6” in length and built of stone and mortar with a slated roof. The present national school (Boherlahan N.S.) was built on this site in 1971.
