Loudan, Jack (1902-1976)

Biography/History

Jack Loudan was born in County Armagh in 1902. He emigrated to Canada at the age of 19, but returned to Ulster after several years and became a freelance journalist. He contributed special articles to the Newsletter and other local papers. He then began to write plays and musical comedies, his most successful play being Henry Joy McCracken (1944). He also wrote the only biography of the Ulster writer Amanda McKittrick Ros, entitled O Rare Amanda. He died in Middlesex in 1976.
