Séamus Ó Duilearga (1899-1980), born in Cushendall, Co. Antrim, was a student of Celtic Studies in UCD when a chance meeting in 1921 with Norwegian folklorist Reidar Thorolf Christiansen launched him on what was to become a lifetime of collecting and safeguarding Ireland’s folk heritage.
