British Bakers Limited


MacDougalls created British Bakeries Limited from an amalgamation of independent bakers in 1968, later combining with Rank Hovis MacDougall. This was taken over in 1992 by Tomkins plc, an industrial conglomerate which was purchased in 2000 by the private equity firm Doughty Hanson. British Bakeries Limited is one of the largest bakery companies operating from 16 large scale bakeries throughout the UK producing bread, specialist breads, rolls and baps mainly under the names of Mothers Pride and Hovis. The company is based on Apollo Road, Belfast.
